AD5252BRUZ1-RL7: Dual-channel programmable digital potentiometer with EEPROM storage function
Product Overview
AD5252BRUZ1-RL7 is a dual-channel, 256-position digital potentiometer produced by Analog Devices. It has an internal EEPROM storage function and can retain the resistance value set by the user after power failure. It communicates through the I²C interface and supports up to four device cascaded (with configurable addresses), and is widely used in system parameter adjustment, power management, automatic calibration and variable gain circuits. This device is in RUZ package (TSSOP-16) and is suitable for the design of small-sized and highly integrated systems.
Main technical parameters

The data retention cycle is 100 years (EEPROM), and it supports 50k erase and write operations
A0/A1/A2: I²C address setting pin (8 addresses can be set)
SDA/SCL: I²C data/clock line
W1/B1/A1 and W2/B2/A2: Three-terminal interfaces of two potentiometers (similar to mechanical potentiometers)
WP: Write protection pin
VDD/GND/VSS: Power supply and ground
Typical application circuit
✅ Programmable gain amplifier (PGA) control circuit: +------------+ MCU (I2C) ---->| AD5252 |-----> control resistor adjustment SDA/SCL | (W1-B1-A1)| is used to adjust the operational amplifier gain +------------+ | V Operational amplifier (such as OPA2134) The MCU adjusts the output resistor of AD5252 through the I²C interface. After changing the resistance, the gain of the operational amplifier is controlled to form an automatic gain control system.
Typical application scenarios
✅ Automatic Gain Control (AGC)
✅ Power module output voltage adjustment
✅ Sensor calibration and compensation
✅ Digital volume control for audio systems
✅ Precision analog front-end programmable bias/gain control
Same series and compatible models
Explanation of Model Differences
The AD5252BRUZ100 100kΩ version is suitable for high-impedance analog loads
The AD5251 single-channel version has a similar package
The AD5242 has no EEPROM function and only supports volatile Settings
MCP4018 is an economical I²C digital potentiometer provided by Microchip
X9C104 Intersil digital potentiometer, low resolution (100 steps)
Summary
The AD5252BRUZ1-RL7 integrates a high-resolution digital potentiometer and non-volatile EEPROM, supports I²C interface control, and features high reliability and flexibility. It is highly suitable for scenarios in modern electronic systems where adjustable resistors are required but Settings need to be maintained upon power failure. It has extensive application value in industrial automation, medical electronics, and smart hardware.
